Newborn sessions are usually photographed when babies are around 7 to 14 days old, when they are still very sleepy and naturally curl into those beautiful newborn poses.
Many Newcastle parents choose to visit our Chester le Street studio during this time as it often fits well around paternity leave, allowing partners and siblings to be part of the session.
If your baby arrives early or later than expected, there is no need to worry. When you book your session we hold a floating appointment based on your due date and adjust the exact session day once your baby arrives.
And if your baby has already passed that early window, we are one of the few studios in the North East that can still photograph newborns up to around 6 weeks old.
Every session is calm, gentle and completely baby-led so your little one is comfortable throughout.
If your baby is slightly older than the newborn stage, a baby photography session is a wonderful way to capture their growing personality, smiles and interaction.
These sessions use the same relaxed studio environment, gentle posing and natural style that parents love from our newborn photography.
Whether you are visiting us from Newcastle for a newborn session or a baby photoshoot later in your child’s first year, the focus is always on creating natural, timeless portraits you will be proud to display in your home.
Our studio in Chester le Street was designed specifically for newborn and baby photography.
Families often tell us they prefer travelling a short distance from Newcastle to enjoy:
- A calm, quiet studio environment
- Easy access from the A1
- Free parking directly outside the studio
- A relaxed session with no time pressure
This peaceful setting allows parents and babies to feel comfortable and enjoy the experience while beautiful portraits are created.
Newborn sessions usually take place on Wednesdays and Thursdays, with a small number of Saturday appointments available.
Each session is carefully planned with plenty of time built in so feeding, settling and cuddles are never rushed.
Throughout the session I guide you gently so you feel relaxed in front of the camera, and parents and siblings are always welcome to be included in the photographs if you wish.
The result is a collection of natural family portraits alongside beautiful images of your newborn baby.
Photographs with older brothers and sisters are often some of the most treasured images from a newborn session.
These portraits capture the very beginning of your children’s relationship and become incredibly meaningful over time.
Sibling images are always created safely and gently, allowing natural interaction between the children.

One of the most common questions is how much does it cost? The answer can vary because every family is different, there is no one size fits all
A £50 booking fee is taken for midweek sessions, and we have a limited number of weekend slots with a £100 booking fee where available. Booking fees are refunded against anything you choose to purchase.
Most clients invest between £450 and £950 in their baby photography, though there is no minimum spend, and we also offer up to 12 months interest-free payments.
We recommend booking your newborn photoshoot from your 20-week scan. We currently offer just two newborn sessions per week, so reserving your slot early helps ensure availability.
When choosing your session date, we recommend selecting a date 7–10 days after your due date, even if you feel you may go early. This booking then becomes a floating appointment, which we can easily move once your baby has arrived.
If your baby arrives earlier or later than expected, simply let us know and we will adjust your session date accordingly, ensuring you do not miss the opportunity to capture those first precious days.
