A typical family session at our Chester-le-Street studio lasts around one hour and is suitable for up to six people. During this time, we capture a variety of portraits – whole family groups, sibling shots, parents together, and individual portraits.
The session is relaxed and enjoyable, with plenty of opportunity for laughter and natural interaction. Many families tell us afterwards how much fun they had – even those who arrived feeling nervous about being photographed.
Following your shoot, you’ll return for a cinematic viewing of your images in our studio. This is where you choose your favourites and decide how you’d like to enjoy them – whether as framed wall art, albums, desk portraits, or digital images.

What if my children don’t cooperate?
We’re very experienced with children of all ages and personalities, including those who are shy or energetic. Sessions are designed to be flexible, fun and relaxed – we work at their pace.
Can we include grandparents or extended family?
Yes. Sessions are suitable for up to six people, but larger family groups can be accommodated – please ask when booking.
What should we wear?
Neutral colours work beautifully. Avoid large logos and busy patterns. Coordinating outfits (without being identical) help keep the focus on your family, not the clothing.
Can we bring pets or props?
Of course. Pets are very welcome, and personal items (such as toys, books, or family heirlooms) can make your portraits even more special.

Family sessions are available Thursday to Saturday. Most sessions take place on a Saturday to allow school aged children to attend.

Your photoshoot will take place at our Chester le Street studio. We aim to finish the session within 1 hour. Sometimes children need a little bit of warm up time at the start and this is all part of the service to make sure they do not feel rushed.
Following your session you will be invited to come back to the studio within a week or so to look at your beautiful images that we have just created for you.
They will be projected onto our big screen for your pleasure from when you can pick any of our wonderful products or collections.
